The end of another great weekend.

Ryan's asleep and Rourk is child proofing the kitchen cabinets. We tried our best to keep from installing latches to the cabinet doors, but Ryan has proven to be too much for the rubber bands. We even bought something to slip over the knobs, but he figured out how to pull them off in less than a minute. It was amazing. He walked up to the cabinet, pulled on the device and that was it; he had the cabinet open.

Ryan has been fever free for over 24 hours now and he ate much better today. I've come to the conclusion that he must have had an infection somewhere and just needed a day or two to get rid of it. So, I am glad that's over.

I also wanted to tell you about a few of Ryan's new accomplishments. He has figured out how to stand up on his own. He starts in the bear crawl stance and pushes himself up into a standing position. He only stands for a few seconds, but that's progress. He also understands how to shake is head "no," and this is now his favorite means of communicating with us. It is "no" to just about everything. He even said "no" to icecream. He wants to be independent and in control and we try and give it to him as much space as possible. And he is trying to sing. Wednesday Ryan and I went to Vacation Bible School. They don't really have a class for his age, but there's a Wednesday night meal, so we ate and participated in the sing-a-long. I decided to let him join the group on his own while I sat to the side. He clapped his hands, waved them in the air and generally had a great time. Next year he'll be old enough to go on his own. And then tonight, Rourk was singing to him and he was trying so hard to join him. It was so much fun listening to the two of them.

And I guess you can call this an accomplishment. We have decided to let Ryan ride the bus from the Meyer Center to the church in the afternoon. There is another little boy in Ryan's class at the Meyer Center that rides and I have talked to his Dad, and he said they do a great job. It's just hard for me to go from Rourk's office, to the Meyer Center and then back to the church in an hour, so we've decided to give it a try. So, for all of you that are gasping...they have car seats and there is a driver and a monitor on each bus and they take each child off the bus and directly to their classroom. If you really get to thinking about it, he is probably safer on the bus than he is in a car.

And the corn pictures are the best. At first we were holding it for him, and then I remembered that we have some of those little corns that you stick in each end of the cob. That did the trick and he was then able to hold it for himself. He was very proud of this. Now, let's just hope he doesn't have extra dirty diapers!!

Need to go. Tomorrow is a work day. Rourk has a full schedule at the office. It was pretty much full last week also. That's one of the perks of buying and established practice. I'll take Ryan to school and then go to the office for the morning. Hope everyone has a great week.
