ICE STORM 2005

We woke up on Thursday, December 15th covered in a thick layer of ice. Rourk got up at 6 am to watch the news and to decide if he should close the office or not. Schools were closed, so he decided to close the office too. No one's going to go out in that kind of weather for a dental appointment. At 7am the electricity went out. So we jumped out of bed a took a shower while the water was still hot. It was also at that time that we could see the ice covering everything and the trees sagging from the strain of the ice. We could also hear them crashing down on Paris Mountain, which is practically in our backyard. We were fortunate to only have two limbs break and no real damage other than one of the limbs holds Ryan's swing.
We built a fire and waited, and waited and waited for the electricity to come back on. Then it hit us that the office might have electricity and that we could go stay at the apartment above his office. Called and the answering machine picked-up. POWER!! So, we packed up and moved to his office and that's were we stayed until Monday, December 19th.
Here are a few pictures of us hanging out. No tv, but other than that we had all the comforts of home. And I can't even say we didn't have tv because all we had to do was go downstairs and watch it in the office.
