I'll catch you up on the events of the past few weeks. The picture of Ryan was actually taken on the playground at the Meyer Center on Valentine's Day. I was interupting his play time and he was not happy about it.
Ryan went last Friday to have the tubes placed in his ears. It didn't phase him. We were with him in recovery and it took him a few minutes to come out of the anethesia, but once he saw us he sat up in the bed and asked for something to eat. We gave him some juice and Goldfish and within a few minutes he was trying to pull the monitors off and was attempting to climb out of the bed. We were walking out the door in twenty minutes. We were also prepared to stay around the house to tend to a miserable child, but as I said earlier the surgery didn't phase him. He has a check-up in a week and then we'll continue to see the ENT every 4 months or so until he feels Ryan no longer needs the tubes. The ENT prepared us by saying Ryan would probably need them for several more years and would more than likely have to have them placed in his ears a couple of more times.
So we ended up having a great weekend. Saturday it rained so we cleaned house and then Sunday we got up early and drove up to a small ski resort in North Carolina to see a little snow. That's what one has to do around here if you want to see it. It's not likely that we will get any here in Greenville this year because it's practically spring or should I say summer now. Yesterday it was a high of 78 and today is must have been close to 75. It's just beautiful.
Monday Rourk worked late.
Tuesday we went and ate pancakes at church. That seems to be one of Ryan's favorite things to eat these days. After dinner we let him play basketball with the big boys. He thinks he's a big boy that's for sure! At one point one of them lifted him up (the goal was lowered) and let him dunk the ball. He was on cloud nine.
Wednesday we were at home...just watched TV.
And tommorrow we have our appointment for our psychological evaluation. That should be interesting. Well, maybe. Actually, who knows what it will be like. We may just go to the office and the guy signs our paper and we're out of there. Or he may delve deep into our psyche. I'll let you know.
My patients was tested again today. We have to have a letter that states that physicians here in the SC can make preliminary diagnosis in 8 areas of health. It's a very basic form letter. Back in December I sent an e-mail with the directions and a sample letter to the SC Board of Medicine regarding this and did not get a response. When I hadn't heard anything by mid-January I contacted our agency and asked them for help. Our coordinator contacted them, got a name and then faxed the directions and the sample letter to this person. Then on February 5th, our agency called me and reported that the person confirmed that he is in fact the one that can provide the letter. I sent him a cover letter, the directions and a sample letter on February 6th. Can you believe that I got the letter in the mail today and he did not notarize it or include Rourk's name on it? He basically didn't read the directions!! Okay, so I am sure it was his staff, but I still want to pull my hair out. I guess tomorrow I get to call and tell them to do me another one. Hopefully it won't take 2 months to get it back.
This too will pass.
