Last night I was just too tired to give you many details about my doctor's appointment, but now I have a little more time, so here goes. Yesterday I picked Ryan up at school because before I could go to my appointment I had to take him to yet another hearing test. This is about the 5th one we've had in the last year. Same results this time-he can't hear much out of his right ear. He was sitting on my lap and I could not believe he couldn't hear the tone because it was SO loud, as in freight train loud. He hears great out of the left ear, so he would end up turning his entire body to the tone. The good news is this is not permanent hearing loss and one of his tubes must be blocked again. That means we are back to the ENT after vacation. The other bit of good news is that he is hearing very well out of the other ear and it no longer seems to hampering his speech.
Once we finished the hearing test we drove across town to my doctor's office and thankfully Ryan fell asleep just moments before we pulled into the parking lot. I didn't have to wait long before the nurse came and got me and took me back. I did all the normal things and then she told be to wait in a small waiting room and that a room would be available with the doctor soon. That's when I told her I was there for an ultrasound and she told me that the ultrasound person was off. Okay, I am still mostly pleasant, but I tell her that I have been anxious about this day for an entire month and then I recalled my conversation with the doctor during my last appointment and even pulled out the check-out sheet that said level II ultrasound. Then for good measure I told her I would be upset if I didn't get to at least take a peek at this baby. About 5 minutes later the doctor came and got me and told me that she would do the ultrasound. She did about a million measurements, all of which looked great and told me that she's 98% sure it's a girl. Well, after looking at the screen, I am 100% sure. The reason I don't have a video is because in my angst about actually getting to do the ultrasound I forgot all about taping it and the pictures they gave me arent' very good. You will just have to take my word for it that she is beautiful.
I woke up at three o'clock this morning thinking about having a girl. I guess if I am truly honest I'd have to admit that I thought it would be a boy and now I am having to re-think the whole thing. Pink--don't like it. Purple--don't like it. I may be the type of woman that doesn't leave the house without a touch of lipstick, but I have never given much thought to a girl. Well, I am thinking about it now and have no doubt that once I go out shopping I'll get into it and she'll probably have more frilly dresses than she can wear. I say this because I said Ryan wasn't going to wear smocked outfits or jon-jon's or any of that stuff and a holiday hasn't passed that he hasn't had something.
We'll be on vacation next week. I'll tell all about it when we get back.
