Just had to get you with a little play on words there.
We've all seen those carts that look like race cars at the grocery store, right? The ones at our local BI-LO are royal blue and have room for two children and each child gets their own steering wheel. I had always refused to use one of them until today. I had many reasons but first and foremost is while at the grocery I want to remain inconspicuous and that's impossible to do while pushing such a monstrous shopping cart. I also decided without even giving them a try that they must be hard to maneuver.
I dread the grocery and will delay the trip until we are rummaging through the pantry and refrigerator creating meals from strange combinations of food. I also don't like taking the kids with me. However, since we are having company this week I decided I need to offer them more than that, so I went to the store earlier today with Ryan in tow.
As we are walking into BI-LO he sees the race car cart and starts pulling me toward it saying, "Mommy. Car. This way." He is pretending to drive a car as he quickly walks toward it. I hesitate before remembering that for about a month now Ryan has refused to sit in a shopping cart. I have to force him into it and we always make a scene. I think, "Oh, why not. Let him sit in the stupid race car if it makes him happy." He gladly gets in and buckles up. He drives us around waving at the other customers and exchanging pleasantries with them. He points at different items and names them for me. It was the best shopping trip in months.
Thank-you BI-LO. Thank you for the race car shopping cart. It is hard to maneuver, but I am sure I will get lots of practice and may even become adept at it soon enough.

As you know, we live and die by the race car shopping cart.
I hate it for all the same reasons you do, but I am oh-so thankful for it each time I have to take the kids to the store.
Same here. I always swore I'd never be one of those parents wrestling that thing down the aisles, but I am. It's a lifesaver. (They have them at Publix, too, by the way!)
