Helping.

Rourk and I have always tried to include the kids in little jobs around the house. I believe it is important to start teaching responsibility early. Here are a few pictures of "helping" in the yard. I wish I had gone in for the camera earlier because the pictures of them dragging the limbs across the yard would have been priceless.

Let me tell you it does pay off. Rourk lets Ryan help feed the dogs on a regular basis. The other day their bowl was empty and Ryan went and gave them a cup of food without any prompting on our part. He walked into the laundry room, opened the dog food container, measured out a cup and poured it into the bowl.

I've started letting Lilly put the clothes in the dryer. Now when she hears me open the door she comes running.

Wonderful! Love the pics. And love the helping. I think it's so great for them. And it makes them feel wonderful and involved. Leo is a huge fan of feeding our dog, as well. He loves to count the cups and enjoys holding the water pitcher while I refills the water. Dryer sorting is another great task! He looks so proud when he finishes a task and I ask him to give me "five" and tell him good job.
I thought you caught great photos but I know what you mean, the camera always seems to be inside when you need it most!)
