Guest Blogger
Hello, my name is Rourk; I am Marcy's husband and I am guest blogging for her today. I wanted to share an instance that Ryan and I had as we were preparing dinner. Ryan has had some experience in the kitchen and if we see someone cooking either on television or at a restaurant he will mimic the cook's movements and pretend that he is the chef. Fortunately he usually tells me what he is doing so I do not misunderstand. He will announce "I'm stirring (in a bowl)" or "stir it up". So knowing that Ryan can mix ingredients together, I cautiously invited him to help make some oven roasted diced potatoes. First we washed four small potatoes and towel dried our hands. Next, I handed him a large mixing bowl (plastic - I wasn't too trusting) and a spoon. He helped pour some paprika, black pepper and a little salt into the mixing bowl. As I started dicing the potatoes he mixed the dry ingredients together. I would put the diced potatoes in the bowl and he stirred everthing around giving them an even coating of spices. I was especially proud of the quickness and control he had during this. I am not sure just any five year-old could do that without making a mess. Lastly we put them in the oven to cook. After the oven door closed we high-fived and cheered our cooking prowess. When they came out of the oven I tried showing Ryan that they were a tasty treat. He snarled his nose up at them and would not even try one bite. A thought ran through my head that he needs to work on his salesmanship if he wants others to try his wares. I wish someone had been taking pictures of our cooking project but i think i will have memories of this for a while. Good times, good times.

I love it! You're an excellent guest blogger, Rourk!
And Ryan? What you made for dinner sounds a heck of a lot better than what we ate here at this house. :-) Maybe you can come cook for us sometime?
I like the guest blogger idea!!
The Rourk and Ryan Cooking show...I would watch!

Funny! Maybe next time you guys should try to make Goldfish. I bet he'd eat 'em then.
Nice post, Rourk! Maybe I'll convince David to do one.
