Drawing to an end...

Ryan and Lilly were out of school last week and instead of soliciting the help of a baby sitter to stay with them so I could work I took the week off. I worried about doing so, worried that I should be at the office keeping everything together and staying on top of the many responsibilities associated with running a dental office. I'm a control freak and don't like people poking around in my stuff or doing things that I am accustomed to doing, but I let it all go (I am proud of myself for that) and enjoyed spending the week with Ryan and Lilly.

You know what we did? Not much. I guess that depends on how one defines an activity; we only went on one outing. I met a friend of mine and her little boy at the Bounce House on Tuesday. The kids had a great time and I got to have a few minutes of adult conversation. The rest of the week we stayed home and just played and watched movies together and colored pictures and danced to all my old George Strait. It had to be country because not only were they dancing, but they also played cowboy on the brooms while wearing their cowboy hats. I am sure not a parenting guru, but if you haven't taken the time to dance and sing loudly and off key with your children then you need to stop and do it now. They'll love it and so will you.

I also completed a couple of sewing projects. I made pillows for the guest bedroom and added a splash of fabric to the boring white curtains, too. I like the results. I also have plans to make a fabric mural for the room. Even as I write that I am thinking, " Are you sure? Do you have the nerve to make something like that?" I got the idea after seeing all of the vinyl stickers on Etsy. I like the vinyl, but I want to do it myself and that's when I started searching for projects made from fabric because I literally have boxes and boxes of fabric scraps. That's when I found this. I know I can make something similar, but more grown up, I just have to figure out how to adhere it to the wall. Any ideas?

Look up the directions for fabric wall paper. I think that will get you started on hanging it.

One of my favorite "Mom' memories is her turning on her 50s music and dancing me around the kitchen. I stumbled everytime but secretly loved it. We were always so happy doing that.
