Best laid plans...

The Meyer Center is closed tomorrow for Dr. Meyer's funeral so Ryan will be staying home. I admit the news of the closing left me scrambling to get someone to cover the office and also holding my breath that Rourk's dental assistant doesn't go into labor until sometime after 5pm. If she goes into labor then I'll have no choice but to take Ryan to the office, tuck him away in my little office near the front desk and hope that movies and snacks will keep him occupied for the duration. I break out in a sweat just thinking about that!
But despite the stress I am looking forward to a lazy day at home with Ryan and probably Lilly, too. I want to drink an entire cup of coffee, not just the half that I usually get down each morning before I head out the door. I want to mop my kitchen floor even though I know that means I am going to have to get down on my hands and knees and scrape up the deteriorated carpet pad that R and L have tracked through the house. (Don't ask, you don't want to know.) If that doesn't take all day then maybe I'll sew a couple of thing because I've decided that Ryan and Lilly are going to have another handmade Christmas this year. Rourk's going to help me make each of them a tee pee and there's a puppet theatre on the list, too. I've already made Ryan a pair of pajamas and Lilly a couple of tops that she can wear to school. It's fun, but a bit more of a challenge this year since I am at Rourk's office everyday, but I'll manage. In a few more years the kids won't think a handmade Christmas is cool and I'll be competing with the commercialism that prompts stores to pull out Christmas goods in August. Ugh.

I'll keep my fingers crossed, but we all know what happens to the best laid plans.

I hope you get to do everything on your list tomorrow!

A teepee is a great idea for a gift...my boys would love that. Did you find a pattern somewhere or are you winging it?

Miss seeing you...hope you're doing well.

I love that you do a handmade Christmas. I would love to do that but time really is a factor. Maybe I will just buy all handmade this year!!!
