Our trip the hospital.

It all started with a little cough on Saturday. Then Saturday night/early Sunday morning Ryan woke us all up with stridor. Stridor is a harsh, high-pitched airway sound. He had done this in the past a couple of times and a trip to a steamy bathroom improved things. Rourk got out the humidifier and I got him in the steam and he got better, so much so that when I got home from church he was playing in the floor with Rourk. Sunday went pretty good, but that night was a repeat of Saturday, so I called the doctor first thing Monday morning and took him on in. Just my luck, the stridor was gone and Ryan was flirting with the nurses. So, we go home with cough medicine. Okay, fast foward to Tuesday morning. The stridor has returned and Ryan's working pretty hard to breath, but imagine this...he isn't distressed, no tears, not fussy. He's sitting in the den playing and watching TV the entire time. But, I know he shouldn't be working so hard to breath, so I call the doctor again and they send us to the ER. At the ER they give him a breating treatment and tell me that it shoud take 2 hours to wear off. After two hours if there is no stridor then we could go home with steroids. The treatment wears off in 30 minutes...Ryan was right back where we started and that's when they sent us to children's hospital via ambulance (no siren). Once he is admitted they started breathing treatments and steroids and by 9pm he's back to his old self again. The nurses were amazed at how happy he was the entire time. He was flirting and blowing them kisses, such a ham. We came home yesterday, went back to the doctor this morning and all that's is left is a intermittent cough. He's been sleeping good and eating too. If he doesn't have a set back then he can go back to school on Monday. I know this is quick, but he's waking up and I need to go check on him.
