Jervey Eye Group called this morning and left a message to inform me that Ryan's glasses were ready for delivery. I took him this afternoon to pick them up. He acted so nicely for the tech that fitted him. He smiled and charmed him and the other patients in the optical shop. Everyone said he would do so well with his glasses because most children tear them off immediately.
Ryan wore his glasses out of the office. He wore his glasses to the van. He wore them for about ten more minutes and then he took them off, folded them and handed them to me saying, "Mommy. Here." I took them from him.
He has adamantly refused to wear them since then. I have tried all manner of bribery and even went upstairs and put my glasses on thinking that would help motivate him.
So the behavior in the optical shop was just a ruse. It was as if he was saying I'll play along with this, but as soon as I am down the road all bets are off; I am not going to wear these glasses.
